Let's Build Capacity With Our Body

I’m assuming more and more people are being pushed up against their nervous system’s capacity to handle daily life because of the daily assaults threatening the constitution, your livelihood, multiple pandemics (COVID and I suspect Bird Flu has really started to spread) weakening immune systems, and the purge of people and inclusion from various walks of life.
This. Is. A. Lot.
Not to mention if you are a federal employee trying to protect the constitution daily and do your jobs to the highest standards you are know for. Or you may be a concerned citizen resisting fascism.

Here are a few recommendations based on my personal journey the past 5 years.
It is critical to build safety with your body. Your nervous system is protecting you by starting to shut down what you are normally capable of doing. Somatic exercises are a great place to start to build safety. It may take you a week or two of practice or you may be like me and it took 6 months to get to the safe point.
You are made up of 20-30 parts you’ve accumulated through your life experiences. Get to know them through Internal Family Systems (IFS) or parts work. There is a great book called “No Bad Parts” by Richard Schwartz. Take it a step further and do a session with an IFS therapist who will guide you through conversations with your parts.
Consider the integration of somatic work, parts work and biology work (at the cellular level) by taking one of Dr Aimie Apigian’s courses (assuming you have financial access). But she does have a book coming out in the fall that will hopefully share her methodology with a wider audience.
If you have symptoms popping up consider whether it might be due to a dysregulated nervous system and check out “The Way Out” by Alan Gordon. He also has a website, podcast and more to share techniques and practice. I first used somatic tracking with a reoccurring migraine and when that worked I applied the technique to some of my chronic illness symptoms.
Once you have built safety with your body and if you do happen to be living in the chronic illness world then I highly suggest checking out Suzy Bolt’s Fern Program and Rest Repair and Recover Program. You’ll be amazed at the offerings and learnings and make good friends along the way.
For me, integration of the human body as a system was key to enable my healing, manage symptoms and build capacity for living in this chaotic world.
What are you doing that is helping you support your nervous system? I would love to hear all about it! Let us know on Bluesky, FB, or IG. Please follow us on any of those platforms if you don't already.
And don’t forget Release & Embrace is here to help you along the way by helping you energetically release stored emotions from your body. Reach out for a free 15 minute intro call to learn more!
